7 October 2018 – Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana lost 2-1 to Chile in an international friendly match on Saturday, 6 October at Estadio Sausalito in Vina del Mar, Chile. Two goals in either half by Carla Guerrero and Karen Araya were enough to see the home side to victory. Refiloe Jane scored South Africa’s consolation goal. This was the first of two international friendlies between the two countries. The second one will be played on Tuesday, 9 October at 22h00 local time (Wednesday, 10 October at 03h00 South African time). Banyana Banyana will be without striker Jermaine Seoposenwe who was red carded for a rough tackle in the 38th minute of the match. Listen to head coach Desiree Ellis’ reaction after the clash.
