18 October 2019 – South Africa’s Akhona Makhalima has been invited to the CAF Elite Women Referees Course to be held in Djibouti from 25 – 29 October 2019.
She is part of 33 match officials (18 referees and 15 Assistant referees) that will take part in the course.
The participants are will undergo physical, theoretical and technical tests during the training – and all those who fail the fitness tests will be sent home.
The match officials are expected to arrive in Djibouti on Wednesday, 24 October.
From Southern Africa, Mkhalima will be joined by, among others, Vianna Leticia from Eswatini, Rosalie Rosalie (Madagascar), Maria Packuita (Mauritius) and Vistorria Nuusiku (Namibia).
Mkhalima is on the SAFA National Panel and is also a FIFA accredited referee.
Retired South African referee, Jerome Damon, is one of the Technical Instructors at the course.
