15 October 2024 – The 2024 edition of the Sasol League National Championships kicked off at the Loerie Park Sports Grounds in Knysna, Western Cape, with the first round of group matches on Tuesday.

The stakes are very high this week as two clubs will be looking to gain promotion to the Women’s National League, and while some teams managed to get all-important first wins, a few others will have to dig deep to progress to the semifinals.

Ezemvelo Ladies from KwaZulu Natal were the first team to earn three points in the opening match of the playoffs after they beat Eastern Cape’s Sophakama FC 2-0 to go top of Group C.

The second match of the day saw a battle of the universities as Kovsies Ladies beat North West University 3-2 to go top of Group B.

Limpopo’s Ramatlaohle Ladies, who are appearing in the National play-offs for the second time, had to dig deep to get a point against Super Strikers of Mpumalanga. This match ended in a 2-2 draw as the two teams shared the spoils in the opening match of Group A.

Day Two of the 2024 Sasol League National Championships will see another three matches played. The North West University will be looking for three vital points when they take on Royal Wizards of the Northen Cape in the opening match of the day at 09h30 on Wednesday morning. Super Strikers will also be in search of three points when they face Gauteng’s FC Raycon at 12h30. Ezemvelo will be looking to secure semifinal qualification with a victory against the University of Cape Town.
